I fell in love with the deep contrast, subtle imperfections, and the almost otherworldly quality of the tintype some time ago. There’s a depth and character unique to them.

What I love just as much is the process. Tintypes are made by hand, from coating the plate and preparing the chemistry to exposing and developing each photograph individually. It’s a slow, tangible process that asks you to be present for every step.

 

I’m continuing to grow my practice in large format photography, tintypes, and ambrotypes, and I’m especially excited to begin creating more portraits and working with people. I love the idea of making photographs that feel personal, and timeless. A piece you’ll be excited to have, display, and keep for years to come.
